Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 31, 2026
This policy explains what LinkCheck for YouTube (“LinkCheck”, “we”) stores, why, who processes it, and how to get it deleted. LinkCheck is run by R.Brown Automations. Contact: [email protected].
What we store
When you run a free scan:
- The channel URL or @handle you typed, and the YouTube channel ID it points to.
- Public data about that channel’s videos from YouTube: channel title and handle, video IDs, titles, publish dates and view counts, plus the links found in each description. We don’t store the full description text.
- For each link: the result of our check, meaning the status code, where its redirects ended up, the redirect chain, any error, and when it was checked and first found broken.
- A scan record with the channel ID, the time, and a hashed version of your IP address. We never store your raw IP address. We combine it with a secret value and run it through SHA-256, keeping only part of the result. We use this only to rate-limit scans and checks. Rate-limit counters are kept per hour and cleared after they expire.
When you subscribe:
- Your email address, your Stripe customer ID and subscription ID, your subscription status (active or canceled), and the private token in your dashboard link.
- The channels you choose to monitor, and the progress and timing of their weekly checks.
- A short counter of how often your checkout reference was used to open the welcome page, to stop that page being reused.
- A log of every email we send you: recipient, subject, body (which can include your dashboard link) and whether it was sent. We use this log to make sure emails went out and to fix problems.
We don’t see or store your card details. Payment happens on Stripe’s checkout page. We don’t use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers, and we don’t sell or share your data for advertising.
How we use it
- To run scans, show results, and run the weekly checks for subscribers.
- To send you emails about the service: your dashboard link after signup and the weekly list of newly broken links.
- To confirm payments and subscription status with Stripe.
- To prevent abuse through rate limits.
Who processes it
- Cloudflare hosts the website and the background worker and stores the database (Cloudflare D1). Like any web host, it handles your IP address and request details to deliver the site. Cloudflare also forwards email sent to [email protected] to our inbox. Cloudflare Privacy Policy
- Stripe processes payments and subscriptions and sends receipts. We read your checkout session, email and subscription status from Stripe. Stripe Privacy Policy
- Resend delivers our emails to you. Resend Privacy Policy
- Google (YouTube Data API, part of the YouTube API Services) supplies the public channel and video data. If the API is unavailable we use YouTube’s public RSS feed instead. LinkCheck uses the YouTube API Services, and by using LinkCheck you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. See the Google Privacy Policy for how Google handles data.
To check a link, our server requests that link. The website behind it sees a request from Cloudflare’s network, not from you. We don’t read or keep the contents of the pages we check. For some pages we read the first part of the page only to spot “parked domain” or “page not found” messages, and we never do this for Amazon pages.
Your Google / YouTube account
LinkCheck does not use “Sign in with Google” and never gets access to your Google or YouTube account. It only reads public data. So there is no account access to revoke. If you ever granted access to other apps, you can review and remove it at Google security settings.
Stopping, deleting and your choices
- Stop monitoring or cancel: email [email protected]. When a subscription is canceled, weekly checks and emails stop.
- Delete your data: email [email protected] and say which channel or email address the request is about. We’ll delete what we hold about it: your subscriber record, monitored channels, email log, and that channel’s stored video and link data. Deletion on request is done by hand. The automatic cleanup is described below. We may need to keep some records where the law requires it, and Stripe keeps its own payment records under its policy.
- Access or correction: email us and we’ll tell you what we hold about you or fix it.
How long we keep it
An automatic cleanup runs every Monday at 13:00 UTC. It deletes anything in the list below that is more than 23 days old, so nothing in the list is kept longer than 30 days:
- Video data from YouTube (titles, view counts, publish dates) that hasn’t been fetched again in that time, plus the description links stored with those videos.
- Link-check results that haven’t been re-checked in that time, and results for links that no longer appear in any stored video.
- Channel records (channel title and handle) that haven’t been fetched again in that time.
- Lookups of what was typed into the scan box and the channel it matched.
- Free-scan records, including the hashed IP address.
- The log of emails we sent.
Rate-limit counters are deleted after their time window ends. The window is one hour, or 24 hours for the counter on the post-checkout page. Deletion often happens shortly after the window ends, and at the latest at the next Monday cleanup.
Channels an active subscriber monitors are fetched and re-checked every week, so their data is refreshed rather than deleted. If that refresh stops for 23 days, the cleanup deletes the channel’s stored video and link data and clears its title and handle. It keeps only the channel ID the subscriber asked us to monitor. When a subscription is canceled, weekly refreshes stop and that channel’s data is deleted by the same rules.
Subscriber records (email, Stripe IDs, status and dashboard token) and the list of channel IDs each subscriber chose to monitor are kept until you ask us to delete them. Stripe keeps its own payment records under its policy.
Security
Data is stored with Cloudflare and sent over HTTPS. Your dashboard link works like a password, so keep it private. No system is perfectly secure. If you think your link was exposed, email us and we’ll replace it.
Children
LinkCheck is a tool for channel owners and is not meant for children under 13.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the effective date above. For material changes we’ll also email current subscribers.
